Obsession with Clarity

One important aspect of being a software engineer is to be obsessed with clarity. 🔎

It’s like a dungeon quest. We have to go to the depths of darkness to gather the information gems 💎, then bring them to the surface to build a wonderful monument of clarity shining under the sun. ☀️

Some principles:

• Ask if we don’t know, even if it makes us feel foolish 🤓 This applies during meetings, code and document reviews, or whenever any questions pop into our heads.
• Delve deeply into every aspect of a topic 🔍 Most of the time, we can sense when something is not clear to us.
• Write to confirm our comprehension ✍️ We must be certain we have fully grasped the concept.
• Explain it to someone if we’re not sure we’ve fully grasped it 🎓 If we are unable to do it effectively, then we probably haven’t mastered it enough.
